Johanna Konta out of final US Open Due to Viral Illness
Johanna Konta is a British professional tennis player. She was born in Sydney, Australia and won many tennis titles.
Recently Konta was participating in the Connecticut Open, but due to illness she has to quit from the ongoing tournament.
She is the no.1 player of the British women’s tennis rankings and her world rank is 46.
Johanna Konta has pulled out of round of 16 of the Connecticut Open due to a viral Illness. She defeated Germany’s Laura Siegemund in the first round in 6-2 and 7-5 sets.
She was also gearing up for the US Open 2018 but now she has also pulled her name out of the US tournament. The US Open is due to start from 27th August.
She was about to face Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain in the round of 16 on 21st August at New Haven in the final warm up game before the US Open. But due to sickness, she opted out before the match.
Johanna Konta also withdrew from the doubles competition which she was playing with her American partner Nicole Melicharbefore the round of 16.
She participated in the Wimbledon Cup last year and became the first woman from Britain to be one of the semi finalists of the tournament.
