20 times grand slam winner Roger Federer defeated by the Australian acer, John Millman in the US Open. He defeated Roger in a fierce battle in the 4th round of the tournamnet. The defeat came well passed midnight at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

John Millman after his win has become the first Australian to defeat Roger Federer in a grand slam match in recent years.

Milman defeated Federer with the help of his best performance of his career. He beat him in the game after trailing in the 1st set.

Federer  defeated by a game with set results like 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-3). Milman will now face another all time great Novak Djokovic as he booked a quater final clash against him.
John Milman is the 2nd Aussie tennis player to beat Roger Federer in a grand slam match after Pat Rafter who had beaten Federer in 1999.

Millman ranked 55th in the world ATP and after the match, he was as shocked as the New York crowd with the result. Federer had been 40-0 against players ranked outside the top 50 at the US Open.

Millman  guaranteed a $660,000 (AUD) payday and a rankings rise to No. 37 in the world after this win and has the opportunity to become No. 1 Australian Player ahead of Nick Kyrgios if he beat Novak in the quarters.

This defeat of the world No.2 was very heartbreaking for Roger as well as his fans.

The winner of the Djokovic-Millman quarter-final match will play seventh-seeded 2014 champion Marin Cilic or Japanese star Kei Nishikori for a spot in Sunday’s title match.
